Wedding in Hannover

This weekend I was in Hannover for a friend's wedding. Got a nice flight at Friday 9pm, was at Hannover central station around 11pm, but then took a wrong train and ended up having to take a cab for the hotel. Then it was fun: Nice guest, thoughtful wedding ceremony in a beautiful church, great garden party with lots of delicious food. Return home on Sunday afternoon.

Picknick and Swimming

Another weekend. Since it was hot I spent most of the time at the lake. On Saturday at a family place with some organized swimming and special ashtrays so smokers would not mess up the grass (picture). In the evening I did barbecue at a friend's place.
On early, early Sunday morning friends arrived who'll spend the next two weeks vacation in Switzerland. We had a great breakfast picknick at the lake and then did a minimal city tour.

Around noon the friends left for their main destination and I went, after a short rest, to the lake again. This time to an unguarded place with no ashtrays and a slightly younger crowd.

Zueri Faescht

This weekend was Zueri Faescht. Think "Oktoberfest" but in Zurich and every three years only. There were fireworks (on Friday and on Saturday night: huge and long and beautiful). People enjoyed a drink of milk, the lake, or kermis. With 2mio visitors it was a huge event for Zurich.

Lake Zurich and Uetliberg

This weekend I was first at Lake Zurich with friends,
then at a bar at Niederdoerfli. After the quiet lake they had quite terrible music which was funny after a certain amount of alcohol only.
We ended up in the coolest coffee place in Zurich for Saturday morning breakfast.
Sunday I finally climbed Uetliberg, the local mountain.

Good weekend.

One Apartment Less

This weekend I was in my little town in northern Germany where I had lived for about 9 Months before I came to Zurich. I had my stuff moved out to a storage space (until the flat in Zurich is free in August), cleaned the place, and handed the keys over to the landlord. The landlord didn't have anything to complain about, so things went smoothly. When I finally left around 2:30pm I felt quite a relief. Maybe I'm really not a small-town person any longer. Or it was just because I had not much slept the night before...

Art Basel

Today I've been at Art Basel. Met with a friend at the Zurich main station at 9:40am, was at the show when it opened at 11am, saw art from 11am to 6pm. There were only few spectacularly new things, but if you own an Andy Warhol or an Egon Schiele you might want to consider selling now: They were definitely over-represented (and, as rumors go, over-priced) at the Galleries.

Coiffure Heidi

On Sunday afternoon I was strolling the city with a friend. He is a hairdresser at a local saloon called "Coiffure Heidi". His clients actually call him Heidi, as do his parents sometimes.
